John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Henry Fonda, Roy Rogers, Lee Van Cleef, Kevin Costner, Yul Brynner and Charles Bronson (all in character) meet in a seedy Deadwood saloon for a friendly game of poker (the Lone Ranger wouldn't show up as he never drinks, laughs or gambles). Everything seems to be going well until the cowboys have a little too much whisky to drink. When Yul accuses the Duke of cheating at cards things break down into an ugly brawl. The enraged cowboys reach for their guns and challenge each other to step outside. The next morning The Duke, Blondie, Henry, Roy, Chris, Kevin, Lee, and Harmonica step outside at opposite ends of the street.

Who walks away from the shootout?

My answer is Clint Eastwood aka Blondie from Sergio Leone's Italian made westerns :)

Jimmy Stewart aside, who would be the last to die?

Sorry Nick that just got me.

The 'last' is 'the man with no name' as he was the fastest on screen and also wore and iron plate under his poncho.Wink

Blondie may be the fastest, but who's to say his opponents won't have time to shoot back after they're hit? John Wayne has killed scores of bad guys, Charles Bronson is a mean Tatar and Yul Brynner is a robot

Isn't this almost impossible to answer with there only being two ends of the street, and a number of opponents? Are they being matched up one on one, or in teams? Confused

LOL

Not good enough Nick...nobody ever got up after 'Blondie' shot them. And Tuco would have shot the robot in the back of the head as per his style from behind.

Good thread.....I need to laugh more.Big smile

Every man's out for himself. They could come from anywhere (not just from the ends of the street, but from the doors of buildings) and can hide behind obstacles like barrels, cactuses or water troughs should they choose to. However, each cowboy is within shooting range of his rivals and is armed with a pair of revolvers

In that case, I'll shoot for the man with no name. His record against multiple opponents in close proximity is second to none.

The Duke would win, even if hit, he is by far the biggest man at the fair! Thus more likely to survive multiple hits. Big guys can just take more! "Fill your hands and prepare to die!", or some words to that effect?

Actually I looked it up, and Rooster, facing four men, says in the movie;

"Fill your hands you son of a bitch."

He would be a tough son of a bitch to kill however!

But surely even if Blonde shot the Duke, the Duke's 200,000 horse archers would pepper him with arrows and I doubt even if blonde carries 200,000 six gun shells with him.

Aaah, but they had secret weapons.  They had six guns that rarely needed reloading.ConfusedBig smile I once saw an old western in which a gunfight took place between 3 men.  I counted 67 shots between the 3 and no reloading.Big smile

Re-loading? Holly Wood has been reloading movies for the last 50 or so years, just how many versions of good movies have been "reloaded?"

There are three left on the smoky, blood stained street...The man with no name, Yul the robot and Charles Mother...king Bronson. Clint whips out his cell-phone jammer and renders the robot useless. Two quick shots...Charles the great falls, stone dead. The man with no name watches the blood trickle from the flesh wound in his side. From the rear, Klaus Kinski creeps out and blows his nameless head off with a rare turkish fowling piece.

Your list of favorite gunmen is missing one famous one, who might well out do all of them. He was played by Richard Boone, and the name of the TV show was "Have Gun, will travel", his screen name was Paladin!

He might well have been the toughest, baddest, meanest, and most Knightly" of all?

How come the Duke didn't make your final three? And wouldn't Klaus Kinski dissolve in the sunlight?

The Duke definitely played a tough game, beat the robot to the draw, but the bullets just mushroomed on the metal chestplate, giving just enough time for the bald one to head-but the duke and break his nose, severely. As his eyes watered and the blood flowed, he didn't notice the very short Harmonica creep up and shoot him under the chin. Fortunately for Klaus, he was wearing dark glasses and didn't notice it was daytime. The power of mental suggestion proven again.

What about the other three lawmen? Roy wears the white hat, Henry has almost 40 years gunfighting experience, and Kevin is a tree-dwelling mailman who could easily go postal with a longbow, broadsword or Tommy gun

Roy is currently in federal custody in Abilene where the GJ is investigating alleged monkey business with Trigger.

Hank was called back by Jimmy Stewart to run the cathous in Cheyenne as he is to gawdamn old for that nonsense.

The harmonica guy is having problems with his sexual identity as verified by his walking off and leaving Claudia Cardinale...to be a pass around for the RR. What an idiot.Thumbs Down

And Kevin has been recalled to Water world....where he can find his actual amphib roots. And then write his version of the Alex Halley classic.

Wink

CV, older cowboys tend to the most dangerous. You'd have to be a skilled gunfighter to reach that age

Nah Nick...skilled gunfighter has actually little to do with...... what makes the difference is nerve and an 'I don't give a shit attitude' coupled with a certain percentage of bullshitis and subterfuge....once you have reached a certain age.

Because a 10 gauge express at 30 paces will take the starch out of anybody.

That's all the compensation one needs  to deal with a Walker Navy or Colt....at that range

The Duke knew that as well.....and I know....... because I am old cowboy.Wink

The Kid was only sober once then got off a lucky shot....Rooster on the other hand was a killer especially when drunk...this is the other side of John Wesley Hardin.
