There probably is a forum thread for this, but it has been awhile and we got many new members...so let this thread be an update. It is obvious what I am lol. I love the demographics of mass popular forums.

Yo I feel that if you bunch all of the latinos together i feel you should bunch the Americans and Canadians together into like "Nordic America" or "North Americans" or something like that

Doesn't seem right to lump Canadians with Americans just because they live next door to one another.
From the poin of view of nationality I'd think Canada should go along with Australia and New Zealand, and, if anything put with Britain and North-western Europe. ------------- |

We, Latinos, bunch all North Americans together under the Anglo-American label... Yeap,Quebec is not counted but Quebec is such a tinny place of six millions that who cares?
 And indeed, Hispanics call the "other" Americans in the U.S. as the "anglos", no matter they descend from Polish, German, Japanese or Ghanian immigrants ------------- |

Interesting. So far, we are only 5 people from the New World. Six if we include Australia in the New World. It is weird though I am the only one born and living in Latin America, Hispanic America and South America. That reinforces the myth we are living in an unpopulated continental jungle ------------- |

Well going by your list I guess I would "Oceania" but Australia is a continent so don't see why we didn't get a "Western Australia" and "Eastern Australia" options in the pole like Asia and Europe did

Latitude and longitude are separate. Greece is both east and south, Portugal south and west, Iceland north and west and so forth. Not a single nation is solely southern or solely western or the like.

It's not a matter of geography. It's a matter of culture. Greece's culture is neither western nor eastern european. You could call it Balkan or Near Eastern, but not West Asian. The same for the other balkan nations. Italy, though "southern", fits well in "western".

Whether it's a matter of geography or culture is a matter of preference. It wasn't clear which understanding we operated with here so naturally there is confusion. But even from a cultural POV one could ask why the northeast defines what is eastern European and not. We could just as well say that Greece and the southeast defines what is culturally eastern European and that Russia therefore is not. ------------- |

Yes, all people of the New World are Americans. That's something the U.S. people don't understand, so why to insist?
Brazil is part of Latin America. Actually, it is the largest and more populated country of the region with circa 1/3 of the lands and 1/3 of the people. So, although you aren't "Hispanic" you are "Latino".
You are Brazilian first, of course
