This thread is to pat tribute to the men and women who have devoted their lives to bringing the Natural World and it's conservation needs to to society and nurturing in us all a love of the world around us.

Some that deserve mention;
 
Sir David Attenborough
Dr.Jane Goodall
Dr.Dian Fossey
Steve Irwin

You should start counting from the Native Americans.
They are the ones that developed many of the later ideologies, particularly the one of "Mother Earth".
 
And Include in the list Grey Owl, a British that liked to play Indian, but who was a pioneer of ecology.
 
And don't forget, please, Greenpeace, the organization.

Agreed Pinguin, how about David Suzuki, he is a very Naturalist in Canada.

I would first look at people who have revolutionized biology and the so-called "natural sciences" (at least in the West). People such as Linnaeus, Lamarck, Chambers, Darwin and Wallace.

Don't worry I wasn't only refering to the four people above. They were just the first four into my head! I meant this thread as a tribute all the great naturalists in history.
 
Actually can I just mention Mary and Louis Leakey who did much to aid our understanding of the development of the greatest ape of them all......Us!
