Oversimplified, and it needs to be recognised that none of those powers was completely dominant in the relevant century. The two that get closest to dominating the whole 100 years are Spain and Britain. And of course China still remains to be seen: it could well break apart.

On a point of detail, 'England' there should be 'Britain' and 'Holland' should be 'the Netherlands' or perhaps, given the period, 'the United Provinces'.

Well, of  course its oversimplified. That's why it's in Amusement.

Yes, I do agree with you here. Of course England and Holland are the incorrect, not simplified, names for those powers. Calling the United Kingdom "England" is ignoring the large Scottish influence on the Empire which cannot be underestimated. Same goes with "Holland" and the rest of the provinces. I think this is the first and easiest thing to be corrected.

How can France be the most powerful nation in the 1700s when Britain beat it during the French and Indian War and the Seven Years' WarAlso, the United States was not the most powerful nation until maybe after World War II (and that is discounting the power stalemate between the USSR and the USA).

Spain was far from dominate the XVI century, at the same time we have the Ottoman Empire, the Mughal Empire and of course China. The first an equal, the second near because power (not historicall influence), China far superior in power and not behind in historical influence.

Pd. Taking out the empires of Far Orient, i think that with the exception of the XVI century, your list is well done Smile
