My country is Going absolutely Crazy I think.... :- The World's Leading Sumerian History Professor, 92 year old Muazzez İlmiye Çığ has been put on trial for stating that the first women to wear the islamic style Veil/headscarf were Sumerian Whores. They initially adopted it as they wanted to distinguish themselves from other women in society.... She also wrote a public letter to Erdogan's wife urging her to take off her headscarf!  92 yaşında yargılanıyor Dünyanın en önemli Sümeroloğu Muazzez İlmiye Çığ, bir kitabında "Türbanı ilk takanlar Sümer'deki fahişelerdi" diye yazdığı için mahkemeye verildi. "Örtünme milattan önce de vardı ama din değil kadının toplumdaki durumunu belirlemek için" diye konuşan uluslararası bilim insanı şimdi 1 Kasım'daki duruşmasını bekliyor. 92 yaşındaki Muazzez İlmiye Çığ, 'Vatandaşlık Tepkilerim' isimli kitabında Sümerler'de fahişeliğin kutsal bir iş olarak kabul edildiğini, kendilerini, tanrı namına bu işe gönüllü olarak adayan bu kadınların diğer kadınlardan ayrılsın diye başörtüsü takdığı yönünde açıklamalarda bulunmuştu. Çığ, için 'Halkı Kin ve düşmanlığa tahrik etmek ve aşağılama ile hakaret' ettiği gerekçesiyle dava açaldı. 1 Kasım 2006'da İstanbul'da hakim karşısına çıkacak Çığ hakkında 1,5 yıl hapis cezası isteniyor. "EMİNE ERDOĞAN BAŞINI AÇSIN" Çığ, Emine Erdoğan'a "Başını aç" önerisinde bulunmuştu. Teklifini kendisine mektupla ilettiğini de söyleyen Dr. Çığ, "Mektupta, 'Böyle bir şey yaparsanız, tarihe geçersiniz. Bütün dünya kadınları size minnettar olur, ödüller verirler' dedim. Calling for the wife of the Prime Minister to re-orient her religious practices does have its ramifications. Unfortunatly, Mrs. Cig is about to find out. The powers that be feel threatened by her important insights. A shame really.
Interesting thing though is that she may be right. Cig points out that ancient Sumerican whores wore a veil, and it had nothing to do with religion. The Prophet ordered his wives to stay behind a veil (curtain) when visitors came over. Why? So they would stand out from the rest of the women is one reason. Another, to have respect from visiting males. The common women didn't wear a veil (head covering) at prophet Muhammed's time. His wives did. In public. Not because of any connection with sexual behavior but simply because they shouldn't identify with common women who were not moslem. Today, if some believers want to seperate themselves from mainstream Islamic indoctrination they may choose not to veil themselves. Thus, it is not the veil itself that is significant but the aura of seperating oneself from popular islamic fashion and misconception. I agree Raapi that she is a daughter of the revolution. Daughters that have been having a tough time with the current government. ------------- |

Dr Cig has been just cleared of all charges against her. She has been basically sued by some pseudoislamiclawyers for saying that the headscarf first started as being worn by Sumerian sluts. The Turkish court has ruled that it was part of her freedom of speech. Long live the Secular Republic! It need ball? Maybe you dont read any newspaper. You are talking like that Erdogan goverment is ruling country. They cannot harm someone who attack veil.
