Salaamoona,

Happy Nawroz/NaweWraz to all Afghans and Irani & Aryan related people! May God turn this year into our success, and bless us with his mercies. Shall you all enjoy this day of happiness and joy.

What have you guys planned for the celebration?

We are having an Afghan gathering here in Melbourne tomorrow, hope it'd be good. Tell us about what you guys do on this day.

yes, lets hope that this year the mullahs in iran will be over thrown, that afghanistan will have peace and prosperity, that all iranic nations and peoples (all nations also) prosper, and that the world will be a better place.

Happy Nawroz! Could some of you tell us what the experience is like?

By the way, don't we already have a few theads on this holiday already?

Happy Nevruz to whoever celbrates it.

It is celebrated in Türkmenistan despite it not being exactly a Turkic practice (and certainly not Islamic).  Most of our Kurds celebrate it here in Turkey - I wish it was made a national holiday in order for everyone to get more excuses for a party as well as to limit each Nevruz being adopted by Kurdish Extremists that ruin it for the good majority.

It is a celebration a new year - not of Apo the Asshole...

Anywho,  sorry to hijack the thread - HAPPY NEVRUZ!

Nevruz Celebrations Of The Turkic World 2006
**I chose to edite all of this post. It was not offensive in any way. I did so because it was a commercial advertisement for Novruz dinner in the U.S. Even though I agree with this campaign it is not proper to place it in this forum.**

I dont know how is in other places, but in East Turkistan Uighurs and Khazaks celebirate it as a new year,on this day we usually do a special dish, its called Newruz Ishi, kinda soup with wheat flour and some other stuff.villagers visit each other and taste the soup as a guest.

Nou Rooz seems to me more of a Central Asian and Persian Holiday then solely a Persian one.  The reason I say this is because Spring is the time of renewal, revival, and hence rebirth.

In the arid and extreme weather of the steppes, green grass and pastures would be everywhere in Central Asia.  Rivers and the powerful rivers of Central Asia would be bursting at their seems.

At this time nomads (whether Iranic or Turkic) would be celebrating life, their flocks would be replenished, and food would be abundant.  It makes sense that the new year would really start at this time.

This is just my opinion.
