Khomeini promised to return to the mosque after the revolution, one of his tricks in uniting seculars who were and still are the majority in Iran, under his wing - even Feminists, would you believe.

I heard he did the same thing during a later secular uprising; he said "let them tear down my pictures" and "things will change" so the people left the streets & went home, but within hours the army moved in & 'neutralized' all opposition, etc, and the next day or so it was business as usual...  Is that correct?

The one made in India has been destroyed. It was later remade, and hence is Persian.
