There's a dispute of the meaning of a Samian village called Karlovasi.

This site mentions: "One opinion for the origin of the name is that it derives from the Turkish words Karli-Ovasi that means snowy valley but since it almost never snows in Karlovasi this opinion does not have many supporters"

Yep Yiannis its Turkish,

Kar = snow

ova = valley

But "snowy valley" must be in Turkish Karli Ova. Where is that village located?

"Karli Ovasi" means Snowy Plain, but it doesnt have to be snowy there. Calling white or shiny places that way was kind of usual.
