They left behind a 6 month old baby. As well as thousands of rounds of ammo and 12 bombs. It would have taken a considerable amount of time and money to amass that kind of arsenal.
His wife was a radical, the child was just an unexpected side effect.

They were planning a much larger attack, he just lost it and the plan jumped ahead of schedule.

The fact that they removed the hard drive from their computer tells me that they didn't do this alone.
This has all of the marks of a sleeper cell. You can't get all of the stuff they had in their home without setting off alarms with someone. Someone else was obtaining the materials and bringing the stuff to them.

Unlikely. To many conflicts with 1-2nd amendment's provisions.


Not to mention I do not subscribe to the leftist theorem that by restricting my rights; I am guaranteed security from an Islamist, wacko, fundo...or anybody else.
