Dixie, the co. that makes "Dixie Cups" and disposable paper plates is among a group of co,s that are sponsoring a movement to turn off all cell phones and other devices, for a 2 hour period, this sunday eve. [6/21].

The idea being that Sunday eve dinner should be for family discussions or just connecting with close others.

I would like to see this become a weekly tradition.

I'd like to hear what you folks think about this.

Imposition of patriarchal Christian ideals that are long outmoded.

No mobile devices at the dinner table on whatever day, or even no mobile devices whilst eating, or talking to others, would be a better ideal. There seems no etiquette rules surrounding the new technology - a symbol of how quickly it has spread.

This year i guarded students during the literature mature test.Title:alienation.Lot of "aliens" on Earth's surface have given us technology.

It's fine by me.....I've been alone or with others eating and conversing, albeit in low tones, many times. But rarely was it around the dinner table.
