I hope and pray the current violence in Syria does not affect the Armenian and Christians minorities living and trapped within Syria.  Armenians were deported there after the WWI.  They have seen and witness much violence for many generations already

If Assad is kicked out, chances are the Islamists will seize power and set up an even worse dictatorship

I disagree, I hope, the current violence in Syria doesn't affect the all innosent people. Their nationality or belief does not important. Even border towns in Turkey, are starting to get empty. People are leaving from own home.

I am scared too. The only winner of Arab spring seems to be political Islamists. Look at protests of people who want sheria rules in Egypt. However current leader of Syrian National Council is a Syrian Christian, George Sabra. This is a chance for them.

It's a case of "damned if we do, damned if we don't." If Assad wins, he will commit atrocities against civilians sympathetic to the rebels. If the rebels win, there will be civil war between the moderates and radicals, with an even higher death toll
