TBH, i don't find my grandparents' music that appealing, although Western swing is good due to its similarity to rock and roll

Sentimentally, I would like to say yes.  I cut my teeth backing Big Bands, I played drums.  In the 60's Big Bands, while not popular on the Pop stations, were still very much in demand for weddings banquets and the like.  I was on the A list for the "Meyer Davis" bands.
But the realist in me says no.  Cost, Woody Herman's Bands in the 60's carried a full compliment of 20 musicians, 2 arrangers, and at least 10-12 others to keep the band on the road.  When I was actively playing, union scale for an A list band was about 100 US for 3 hours, per man.  I think today that would be a little over 500 US.  Throw in all of the expenses of travel, advertising etc., It wouldn't be sustainable.
