Dunno. How valuable do you believe the retention of historical and cultural information and experience and treasures, as viewed by others and possibly you, is a priority for 'you' the individual. No matter the national economic status and condition.
 
If it's merely a question of focus of expenditures.... then depending on your view point your in.. out... spend the money elsewhere for whatever reason..... etc.
 
All a matter of perspective.
 
Mine is save what you can save and endorse preservation...the cost and the hows can be rexamined as necessary.... but the point of saving history is a non-issue for me.

Waste of money. If the artefacts were ancient, fair enough, but what's so remarkable about objects from the postwar years?
