I wonder how did he ever come up with the idea that Kennewick man was a Jomon from Japan? Still it's an interesting alternative to the whole caucasian/tribal american theory, and imagine the reactions from both sides that a Japanese person is infact a Kennewick man.

The Jamon and the modern day japanese are two different races. The Ainu of Japan are what they call Jamon but even then there are only 35 pure Ainu left in Japan. The rest are a mongoloid mix, like most japanese. According to an article in Archaeology the Japanese are connected to the Jamon genetically but overall they are mostly mongoloid

Hastings says rule change would hurt science

Proposed federal regulations covering the disposition of ancient
human remains would effectively prevent scientific study,
according to Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash.

The regulations proposed by the Department of Interior are an
"obvious attempt to end-run congressional intent and a federal
court ruling in the long-fought Kennewick Man case," he wrote in
a letter to Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne.

However, Rob Roy Smith, a Seattle attorney who represented the
region's tribes in the Kennewick Man litigation, said Hastings'
letter overstates the reach of the proposals.

Caucasian/tribal american hipothesis is just another dream... It is quite clear today that the immigrants were Asians from diverse regions. Mainly Mongolian-Siberians but Ainu (austroloid) stock is not out of the picture. In fact, recent contact between Asia and the America also existed. Remember Inuits.
