Hi guys!
The previous edition of my game, Waldan, was a huge success. For the latest expansion for my game, which I will put live by the end of this year, I have been revising all bonusses of the 8 different civilisations in the game, and there's still alot to do there. The setting is early medieval Europe, from the migration period up till about 1000-somewhat AD. (although since it's a game, you could say it's an alternative timeline starting in the migration period)
It's an online multiplayer realtime strategy game, that is, a management game, with very elaborate economy, building tree, etcetera, and a relatively simple combat system.
The 8 civilisations are:
Byzantine (the Byzantine empire)
Celtic (the Celtic tribes throughout Europe)
Easterlings (the Huns and similar peoples, East-Germanic tribes)
Germanic (the West- and South-Germanic tribes)
Islamic (the Arab world)
Norse (North Germanic tribes and Indigenous Scandinavian peoples)
Roman (the Roman empire)
Slavic (the Slavic tribes)
I am increasing the number of researchable abilities per civilisation from 2 to 4, and also revising the old abilities. So far the only completely finished one is the Celtic civilisation, which is a good example of what my goal is:
The Celtic CivilisationThe goal is to end up with abilities that create the feel of a particular civilisation, motivate a play style that is similar to the civilisation's role in history (e.g.: the Roman abilities make it easier to control foreign cities which motivates players to expand by capturing other players' cities, Celtic are good at army-to-army combat, Easterlings are good at pillaging and destroying cities), and that are, most of all, alot of fun.
Roman is more or less finished as well. I drastically need new ideas for abilities
for the Slavic and Byzantine civilisations, and the remaining 4 still
need some ideas as well.
Ideas, random facts about empires, movie tips, everything you can think of is very much appreciated.
Like I said the game is very elaborate so lots of aspects you come up with I will be able to translate into a game mechanic that is already there (or I will add a new one).
I already owe part of that civilisation division and a couple of abilities to you guys
Thanks in advance
