Hello everybody! Would you be able help me pick a specific part of that period (Protestant Reformation). Yes sad to say (or maybe not) it is for a last minute essay consisting of an intro, body, conclusion.

I wasn't sure if I shoud do it solely on Luther and how he all began the reformation in the 16th century, where, when, how, causes and why etc. Or maybe Zwingli in Switzerland. As long as it has ties to the Roman Catholic Church and why there was a growing sense of dissatisfaction. I don't know too many leaders and what their complete motives were, but I was hoping you can lend me advice, thoughts and your opinion in what was the most ineresting part of the reformation with ties to the Roman Catholic Church and what leader caught your attention most.

If you can add any book titles or site links of your  favourite part/leader of the reformation it will be greatly appreiciated. Since i need primary and secondary documents

And one more thing...i always suck with Intros :( In what way should i start it off? Explain what it was and why it started?

Thank you for your time in reading this message. Have a splendid evening.

Any study fo the Protestant reformation should also include references to the Catholic counter reformation. In response to the reformations, the Catholic church countered with reforms of their own, better administration and charismatic "grass roots" level religious leadership (of course, force was used by both Catholics and Protestants).

In the end, most of Western Europe remained Catholic. Not a bad accomplishment considering the momentum of the Reformation and the level of popular discontent.
