But that's why I like them. Big smile

Sure, it's bubblegum-pop, but bubblegum-pop is very entertaining in kitsch sort of way. I too like metal, but for different reasons. Not that the metal genre is the advocate of tasteful clothing:

Maybe you should and then you can make your comment. Maybe you are not into dance or pop music. Wink
In spite of your preference in rock/metal music.. sometimes it is good to hear something new.
Anyhow..do you want me to create a new thread? Amy Lee (Evanescence) vs. Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation)??Cool
No doubt, these two are good singers.. thanks to you for your suggestion before..

Yes, I have seen the videos and heard the songs on the local radio stations.  I will admit, they do have "catchy" hooks in their music, but doesn't all pop music?  As was pointed out by other members, "catchiness" in and of itself is not always a good thing! LOL

I apologize for the negativity, but it is just very difficult for me to consider Perry and Lady Gaga with seriousness in their present formats.  However, one cannot say that I have not held out hope for them! Big smile  I think they really need a change of genre where the focus (and test) will be on their musical abilities rather than images.

Trust me, I am all for listening to and considering new music.  My music collection, believe it or not, is actually quite eclectic.  But there is a certain quality to the music I listen to, even in the pop selections, which is difficult for me to explain.

Katy Perry by a mile.

As Cahaya has mentioned Sharon den Adel is a good choice, her performance is great.
