But that's why I like them. Sure, it's bubblegum-pop, but bubblegum-pop is very entertaining in kitsch sort of way. I too like metal, but for different reasons. Not that the metal genre is the advocate of tasteful clothing: http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq311/keil666/Manowar.jpg

Amy Lee (Evanescence) vs. Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation)?? No doubt, these two are good singers.. thanks to you for your suggestion before.. |
Yes, I have seen the videos and heard the songs on the local radio stations. I will admit, they do have "catchy" hooks in their music, but doesn't all pop music? As was pointed out by other members, "catchiness" in and of itself is not always a good thing!
I apologize for the negativity, but it is just very difficult for me to consider Perry and Lady Gaga with seriousness in their present formats. However, one cannot say that I have not held out hope for them! I think they really need a change of genre where the focus (and test) will be on their musical abilities rather than images.
Trust me, I am all for listening to and considering new music. My music collection, believe it or not, is actually quite eclectic. But there is a certain quality to the music I listen to, even in the pop selections, which is difficult for me to explain.

I like to listen to Lady gaga (Poker face), but her video clip is an absolute turn off.

As Cahaya has mentioned Sharon den Adel is a good choice, her performance is great.
