Hi guys (and gals),

It's good to be back!

I returned after a week's holiday and was socked by the seer stupidity and despotism that proboards has shown.

Anyway, we'll now work to make our forum ever greater than before.

regards,

Yiannis

Just a little thing that I *ahem* borrowed from a friend and adapted to fit All Empires.

'Twas the night before the reopening and all through the empires,
not a feature was working, and the topics were unfurled.
The Moderators sat and watched for their forums in despair,
with hopes that a miracle soon would be there.

The citizens were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of working code danced in their heads.
When out of the server there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our keyboards to see what was the matter.

Then what to our wondering eyes did appear,
but Cyrus and KhaKhan with a six-pack of beer.
Their resumes glowed with experience so rare,
and turned out great code with a bit-pusher's flair.

More rapid than eagles, the programs they came,
and they whistled and shouted and called them by name.
On Persia, On Asia, the Steppes and Rome!
On India, On Americas, Africa, Hellas, and home!

With their eyes glazed over, fingers nimble and lean,
from weekends and nights spent in front of a screen.
A wink of an eye and a twist of a head head,
soon made it clear we had nothing to dread.

Neither spoke not a word, but went straight to their work,
turning specs into code; then they turned with a jerk;
And laying their fingers upon Any Key,
the software came up and it worked perfectly.

The menus, they menued; the deletes, they deleted,
the forums they formed; and the batch-jobs completed.
They tested each whistle, and tested each bell,
with nary a stack dump, and all had gone well.

The software was finished, the tests were concluded.
Our last minute requests were even included.
Then the users exclaimed with a snarl and a taunt,
IT'S JUST WHAT WE ASKED FOR, BUT NOT WHAT WE WANT!

Blessed are they who laugh at themselves - for they shall never cease to be amused.

Same thing happened to me!  Except I was in England and Ihsan informed me of what happened.

Me as well, nothings more confusing than thinking they just changed the look of all empires and trying to log in 5 times unsuccessfully.

Hey Capa! Yes it's me but I'm here long before HG!

Good to see you here as well, hope to have lots of good discussions! Watch out for me at the "Greek" section of the forum...

Hi yannis!

If the greek section includes Byzantine empire as well ( after all, the late byzantine empire was more or less an entierly greek empire), we might have lots of fun over there.

I guess we should discuss the Byzantines under "Medieval empires". The Greek/Roman empires is about ancient times.

It will still be interesting, I like the Byzantines as well. A drop of civilization in a barbarian world!
