yes. It's not an incredibly strong venom, but it's there. a LOT of lizards apparently have some venom in their bite-that's why lizard bites often swell up and get red.

And perhaps after eating all that rotten meat they are left with a mouthful of bacteria!

Perhaps? better to say: certainly, unequivocally, and definitely.

Well for many years it was believed that the diet of the Komodo amounted to a disgusting array of rancid bacteria in their mouth. They would bite the victim and just use their strong sense of smell to home in on their victim, who'd die a few days later. However only recently, as ARRGH pointed out, venom glands/ducts have been discovered. Although, their venom is not incredibly potent, and the oral bacteria still play a part in the kill. It's funny - most Komodos refuse to eat fresh meat - they prefer rotting and rancid carrion.

No, not personally. So I went to Google. I still could not find anything about experiments on eagle IQ/intelligence. But, it did lead me to a whole new concept - Cognition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_cognitionIt is a very interesting read indeed, and shines a new light on our discussion in this topic. At the bottom of the page are links to articles about dog, bird, cetacean, cephalopod.etc cognition. The bird one mainly focuses on Corvids, Parrots and Pigeons - no eagles. - Knights -
