June, 21th 1978 -

Second round of the World Championship 1978 in Argentina.
Italy, Holland, Austria and Germany had qualified for one of the final groups.

After matches against Italy (0:0) and Holland (2:2) he german team needed a win against austria to have chance for the final or the small final.

Germany lost. A traumatic experience. And the WC 1978 is razed in the collective remembrance of a whole nation.

Legandary the reportage of the austrian broadcast:

In Austria this event is named as the miracle of cordoba, don't no why.

The german team was disgraced, team manager Schn retired after the WC and four years later both teams were involved in the scandal of Gijon.
But that's another chapter.
