    Posted: 16-Jun-2007 at 02:22
Hey all, hows it going, I've got a little spare time on my hands and have been wanting to crack into HOI2 again. Unfortunately I've beaten it so many times from so many different nations that I've been a bit burnt out. This is why I want to make a new mod for the game but I'll need help from you guys.

First off no difficult work is really needed for you guys (I'm doing all the hard work). What I'd like to propose though is that I basically make up the majority of the mod from scratch, new nations, new tech teams, new leaders, catered to each individual member of the AE forumites that would like to participate. Perhaps if I get real ambitious AE flavored events.

What I need is for each person to post what region they'd like their nation to rule over and also the claims that they don't yet control.

Just show me on any map and I'll translate it to HOI2 for you.

I'd like to see if anyone is interested in my new "pet project". When I get this finished I'll post a download for everyone so that they can play this, perhaps we could even get an MP game going.

Unfortunately I do not, I only have the original game cd, with the 1.3 patch.

you mean you don't even have Doomsday? oh well, paraod will release an anthology edition sometime soon, including the old Hoi as well as Hoi2 with both expansions as well as some goodies (a poster of the Hoi worldmap and a paradox medal or something). might be an option for you.

I don't know I'm fairly satisfied with what I have now Temujin, and I am of the opinion that shortly after an anthology is released they'll unveil HOI3 with the same graphics changes that accompanied EU3....and all I want is a CK 2.....

Eu 3 is ugly, and they need an expansion to get it right (what used to be EU2 but lacked in the initial release). HOi2 is nice even without the expansions but if you have them you won't want to alck them again, especially the now far improved AI. not sure if i would get a HOi3 with Eu3 graphics. and i would prefer a Vicky 2, but with a better timeline (more 19th century, less 20th century) and regiments instead of divisions. if only they hadn't made a Napoleonic Expansion for EU3... and i never bothered playing CK, it lacked non-europeans and the dynastic development was not true to history, but that would have made the game even more boring.

I agree that EU3 is ugly, and doesn't Paradox always require an expansion to get a game right? .

I guess I'll check out the expansions, see if I'd be interested, I don't play HOI2 much anymore, for the sole fact of how many times can you create the Thousand Year Reich, Devour the world with Mother Russia, and try to not die of boredom playing America. That's kind of the reason I want to make my own mod, so even after I'm done playing out all the scenarios it will still amuse me from a nostalgia standpoint.

I wish that EU3 did pops like Vicky does, in fact I think that all paradox games should utilize population migrations, and maybe have pops not assimilate so easily as in Vicky....sorry I like to have odd historical groups, I mean if I'm France and I've conquered all of Italy, why are all my colonies French and not a combination of Franco-Italian, or just Italian.

If your looking for a historical game CK is not at all for you. However CK is a VERY fun game, you get so attached to the characters in it, with their wacky traits and all the crap that befalls them. It's a game about the individuals in the dynasty set onto the backdrop of the crusades period (although due to unintended ai, it more often turns into the jihad period), and it's highly addicting.

sounds like the new fantasy scenario of Armageddon would be somethign for you, it lacks events but its soemthign different.

i think Hoi should have had the mobilize button from vicky as well as the political system. also i liked migration but i didn't liked that they assimilated too fast. also i would have prefered to choose myself what factories to built instead of interfering with my population and telling them what kind of work they should do.
