Southampton ('the Saints') may or may not get back to the Premiership next year, but if this story is true it shouldn't be long.

Paul Allen is way richer than even Abramovich. Big%20smile Thumbs%20Up

that'd be awesome really.

An American taking on English Football and spending as much money as Abramovich, with one aim! To Beat those damn Ruskies!

Well dream over...

Americans like Paul Allen aren't worried about losing all their money to strong leaders like Putin, hence will not pump 100millions into Football. They are more likely to invest to make money - see Glazer's.

Actually the aim of any true Southampton supporter is to beat bloody Pompey.

(For the uninformed: Pompey= Portsmouth. One of the reasons I enjoyed reading De Bello Civilo as a teenager. In fact, to be honest, the only reason.)

..a quick note of sympathy for gcle2003...

....bad luck about the play-offs my friend, must have been particularly disappointing after having held the lead and looking like promotion was on its way....if its any consolation, Saints had a good season and it looks like it will be only one more year and they will be surfing in the Premiership and playing my team (ChelseaShocked!!)...

..heads up gcle2003!!!...and roll on next season.....

Many thanks for that, Act of Oblivion.
<keeps stiff upper lip>

All I can say is 'What happened to the away goals rule?' We won 3-2 away and lost 1-2 at home. In the European championships that would be 7-6 to Southampton. No need for any penalty shoot-out.
