Peregrine falcons are breeding in the Netherlands on a small scale only, currently the population is about 20 adult pairs, so every succesfull brood is important.

A webcam has been installed in a nesting-box, and last Saturday and Sunday the eggs finally hatched.

You can see the little birds live here:

Not much to see as yet: the chicks are so small that they spend all their time under mum's wings. ( you can hear them squeak though... Big%20smile)

But as soon as they become bigger, there will be more to see...Smile

Women hold their councils of war in kitchens: the knives are there, and the cups of coffee, and the towels to dry the tears.

Awesome, you are my hero for starting a topic about peregrines! Approve

Peregrine Falcon are possibly the most wide ranging bird on the planet, and it's good to see there are some in the Netherlands too. As far as I know, most are migratory except the Australian Peregrine, which is a permanent Australian resident.

It's great to see the new life, especially in the midst of civilisation. Peregrines have taken to the urban environment better than most, and have found a niche in the urban ecosystem. In fact, in the recent breeding season down here, there was a nesting peregrine on the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge!

Such amazing birds, amazing swiftness. I know of a few of these 'nest box'/nest site webcam projects - I'll see if I can find some more about this. Smile
