- its obvious that they are cute cubs (or whatever they are called in that family) of a hedgehog.

Well, Northman, funny you mention that. There is no single word attributed to describing a baby hedgehog. They used to be referred to as kits, pups or even piglets. However, recently these names were implemented to represent a baby hedgehog:
- Hoglet
- Hedgehoglet
