Topic: Neutron bomb, stealth Weapon of Mass Desc Posted: 12-Feb-2007 at 20:20 |
Does any countries have any neutron bomb? If so, which nation? I know terrorist organization won't have one because it's difficult to make, and is expensive. I know it can be built in theory, but is it real?

As far as I know it is impossible to make. If we're talking about the same neutron bomb (destroys all organic matter, leaves all buildings untouched) I can't see it being real. For one thing it would have nothing to do with neutrons. I could be wrong though.

Yeah, that's the bomb I am talking about.
I don't know. Maybe CERN is developing one...

That goes against everything CERN stands for. They would never develope something like that.
The wikipedia article sparten posted says that the US already has one, and the theory behind it sort of makes sense. However, they are correct on the point that a bomb like this would be short-lived, as tritium's half life is relatively short.

Even if they do, they will never admit it. Tons of paperwork that they have to fill out, and all the human right activitiests that they must put their effort to ignore...

It seems kind of a no brainer that the U.S. and Russia already have them or the easy ability to build them. Probably for many years now. Wouldn't surprise me if China had it as well. I'm surprised no one brought up the alleged use of the Neutron bomb by the U.S. at Baghdad airport.

Would have been difficult to hide. Remember a neutron bomb involves the detonation of a small nuke. So would have been detected.

I did hear some announcements of Russia in which they said that they had developed a "new type of nuclear weapon" which had never been seen on earth before. This was in 2005 or 2006 and one of the officials was actually touring the US. I remember him saying something like "thank god we still have engineers that can do stuff like this" while he was talking about it. He did not specify much just said it was new technology.
I thought it might be the anti matter bomb perhaps. Or if no such thing as a neutron bomb had been known up until now then it could be a neutron bomb.
