What is man's obsession with disturbing gravesites? Do you wonder why digging has become an obsessive hobby for treasure hunters? A thousand years from now, will mankind be digging for us! Should it matter what is unearthed so that we may learn in the creative abilities of human nature? Being intrigued by todays news about a couple whose grave has been disturbed. It is an extraordianry talent, but I would leave peoples graves as is.
I want to upload the pictures but i can notCry

They are different aren't they, or am I wrong? We actually looked at those two 'love birds' LOL in Ancient History at school today, there are some comics about them relating to Valentines Day. I'll try and scan/upload the comic.

Gravesites are one of the few time capsules which survive relatively undisturbed (if not robbed by grave looters), for the archeologists to study. Without gravesites we would know very little indeed about certain civilizations. As long as it's done in a respectful manner by professionals, I don't really have a problem with it.

I suppose so, But how much shall one unearth to know where mankind evolved from? Nevertheless, if its beneficial, I guess dig all they want.

I read an article about how the archaeologists found dead bodies hugging together tightly like lovers. Strange enough, the dates indicate that they were buried not too long before the time when Shakespear published his "Romeo and Juliet"!

Since archaeological team did not saw any significance in these bodies... they decided to put them back to the original tomb. May their romance rest in peace...

Thanks Pekau...Another little bit of trivia, the buried couple stated above by DocStaph -dubbed prehistoric Romeo and Juliet- were buried just 40km south of Verona, Italy. Verona was the setting for Romeo and Juliet...

Gravesites is the only way to know the life of our ancestors.

In the north of Chile, for instance, there are people preserved from 5000 years ago that surface in beaches of the desert north. It is not necesary to dig deep to find them, and when there is a new highway or contruction archaelogist are called to preserve what is certainly going to be found.

In my own city, Santiago, when a new line of the subway is build, archaelogists has to be called on site. Last line show there was a town underground the city that we didn't know it existed. Spaniards said they founded the city, but the city was there before they arrived.

So, sometimes at least, it is not even necesary to look for gravesites, but they appear in the way of new constructions.

Perhaps the people from the future would dig our tomb. Make sure that we have something special in our graveyard! Like Lord of the Rings Triology DVD... your name would be eternally remembered.
