Another legend about the destination of Adolf Hitler.
Sometimes he hole up in a hicktowm in Argentina, sometimes he lived as a neighbor of Elvis somewhere in the USA and even now he setled down on iceland as a wool grower. Why not ?

I found a sign of the truce of this story, when I saw a german sheep-dog,tied close in front of our butcher's store at  the laufsvegur.but no hint of Adi.

Now see why:

A new history book provides an account that an American soldier along with an Icelandic interpreter searched for Adolf Hitler in Iceland shortly before the end of WWII.

Hitler was believed to be in hiding in the home of Gunnar Gunnarsson, a well known and highly respected Icelandic author, as reported by RV.

Gunnarsson was known for his connections to the Nazis during WWII and, on 20 March 1940, was reportedly the only Icelander to ever meet Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

The book Skldalf (Life of Poets) by Halldr Gudmundsson features the life of Gunnar Gunnarsson and compares him to another Icelandic author, Thrbergur Thrdarson.

Gudmundssons book says Gunnarssons house was searched twice by allied forces during the war. On the second occasion, 6 May 1945, an American soldier and an Icelandic interpreter knocked on his door in Skriduklaustur, east Iceland.

Gunnarsson evidently did not know why his house was being searched, but later learned from a farmer who lived close by that the American soldier had been looking for Adolf Hitler.

A week earlier a German plane had been spotted flying over the area, dropping something off near Gunnarssons house.

The books author told RV that the theory about Hitler being dropped off in east Iceland was absurd, but that it says a lot about how people saw Gunnarsson as a person.

This account in Skldalf is based on a written testimony given by a man who lived on the farm closest to Skriduklausur.

He could have gone there but more than likely there were probably 10 or 20 different places he could have gone and in 19 of those places the remnants of his personal SS guard would  send a body double as a decoy. Obviously if you are going to hide something or someone and do not want it to be found, you make some decoys to alert you regarding who is on the hunt and how close they are. Iceland is probably a good place for a decoy but considering Hitler's phenotype the best place for him to hide and live out his days would be south america or spain. And I am pretty sure the SS had at least 20 and maybe 50 global destinations pre planned for his escape but which one to use in the end for the real Hitler and which ones to use as decoys would be kept secret and undecided until as late as possible.
