Last May, I took the AP European History Exam. The Exam was split into three sections: Eighty Multiple-Choice Questions covering the Rennaissance until now, a Document Based Question covering the rise of sports and the Olympics in Europe between 1815 and 1914, and two sets of three questions. I had to pick one question from each set, and write an essay about it.

The first essay I chose, I had to explain the Columbian Exchange, and give examples of animals, plants, and diseases that were transferred between the Old and New worlds.

In my second essay, I had to explain why Russia was behind the western powers during the nineteenth century.

From the first section, two other essay choices were comparing and contrasting Louis XIV and Napoleon I, and Describing why the Rennaissance began in Italy.

The other two essays in the second section involved me explaining why Germany lost World War Two, and Explaining the fall of Communism.

If you guys would, please outline the two essays I chose, and tell me whether or not I chose the best essays.

Thanks!!

Hoa! Seems pretty vast and in the same time very specific!

I defently agree with you for the first choice. The 'colubian question" is classic and fairly easy. The other is a pure nigtmare go on try to trace back to Peter the Great industry the sources of the structure of Russia 19th c.'s economy!
On the countrary, for the second essay, I think comparing two characters is childish and border line morronic. Besides there is quite a leap backward between Nap and the Quatrocento. On the countrary the fall of the two main European totalitarism is piece of cake (maybe even too much).

Thanks! I wrote about potatoes, horses, and smallpox basically in my first essay.

In my second essay, I wrote how Russia never caught onto the Industrial Revolution, how it had no overseas imperial colony, and how it didn't 'free' the serfs until the late nineteenth century.

BTW, forgot to mention, in the second essay, was how it was behind ECONOMICALLY....whoops. :P

I didn't write about WW2 because we didn't really touch on it in history. We got up to the Age of Anxiety in the class. The rest we had to learn on our own...we just ran out of time.

Same thing with Communism.
