Xristar, I only live in Athens, I am not Athenian as such.
I just wanted to share my observation of Athenians and stereotypes from their point of view. I have never been to Thessaloniki (unfortunately) but I've heard so much about, not just the city itself, but its people too. Everyone seems to love it.
You're right about the history of Thessaloniki, of course. It was an important city for a long time whereas Athens had lost its importance in the Christian era. It wasn't even the first capital of modern Greece.
Oh, and, don't get me started about the traffic! Thank God I don't have to drive around here, or I would have been dead by now.
