I've noticed several things of late; one is the sluggishness and frequent downtime (seems the forums are often down for periods of 10 minutes or so, and then back again) that has plauged the forums of late; the other is that some of the regulars seem to to be visiting and posting less frequently.
I can't help but feel the two are related.

Whats going on with the server? It wasn't like this when the new forums started.

I don't mean to come across all pessimistic, but it really does seem like the forums are quieter these last two weeks, and i know that these technical glithces have been happening the most since then (not counting the date bugs of course).

yes, I noticed too, and personally I must say those random lags are annoying as hell, i really don't have the time to wait 5 minutes until a thread openes up.

but today it didn't occured much but it's definately a severe issue.

hmm. I haven't seen a long downtime in a while. I know that sometime it gives you an error message but if you reload it shows up.

Well, AE is badly accessible recent weeks. There are often short periods AE is down, and also AE works very slowly.
And it's also noticeable that there are less messages posted and less people visit AE, even by frequent posters. People like Kalivipoeg, Roughneck, Colchis, Yiannis, ArmenianSurvival and even Ihsan seem to visit AE much less frequent than they used to.

I know the two are related in my case - I'm too impatient to wait for long reload times - there's only so much solitaire that I can play waiting for a response.  It's also frustrating to have to save every post so that it is not lost - if I forget to save the post before I hit the reply button - very often posts are lost and I have to go back and rewrite...  And still somteimes - like today - I can view the forum but cannot sign in so I cannot access some forums to reply while it is on my mind -

I'm nowadays too busy with real life (especially school), that's why I visit forums rarely now (except Steppes which I visit every day - but there aren't much posts made, only a few in several days, so I don't spend much time there either). Another reason was the slowliness of the forum.

Well, I guess the technical ptoblems are going to be solved, eventually -- I'd also bet they are 95% over.

People wil come back as soon as the system is reliable.

Of course, some people can be more busy now than in other periods, but that is something that follows statistics laws, so that in every time of the year someone wil be busier than average and someone other less busy.

Therefore, do not be too much concerned, Cywr, this forum is a well estabilished one with a hard core of faithful members.
