Anyone know a good book that is focused on the Arsenal in Venice?

Hi,
In English I guess some of the most important works are
LANE (F. C.), Venetian ships and shipbuilders of the Renaissance,
Baltimore, John Hopkins university press, 1934, 285p. (2nd ed., 1992).
(classic: a masterpiece, more focuse on history of technics)
DAVIS (R.C.), Shipbuilders of the venetian arsenal: workers and workplace
in the preindustrial city, Baltimore/Londres, Johns Hopkins university
Press, 1991, 270p.
(modern point of view, more focused on the workers, excellent
bibliography and a very seminal work)
Beside these, you've got a lot of books in Italian about l'Arsenale and the
arsenalotti.
Bye (I hope it will help)

I have read Lane, but found it a very dry read. Its more about ships than about the Arsenal. I was not aware of Davis' book. I will certainly look for it. Thanks.
