I am reading Crime and Punishment as well as Destiny Disrupted: a history of the world through Islamic eyes. I can't believe Raskolnikov did it as I am still in the beginning. I thought the whole story was going to be a struggle of will that culminates in the murder.

Arabia and the Arabs: from the Bronze Age to the coming of Islam by Robert G. Hoyland. Excellent book about pre-Islamic Arabia.

Also, I recommend The Great Caliphs by Amira K. Bennison. One of the best books on early Muslim society I have read thus far.

What a good choice eaglecap! This man is a genius/Jewish nut!

And since I formally lived in NYC, he is so typical of many of them that I knew or know personally!

But, I would just love to read your final review?

I mostly agree with him without his regard to his health issues!

Regards,

OH! By the way, the last book I read was "The King of Torts", written by a fellow Mississipian, named John Grisham!

All I can say is that, like most all of his numerous books concerning lawyers, it was a good read! And, most likely a good idea why some regulation should be considered concernining "tort law?"

But, I always read and re-read the two volumes of Fomenko that I have! It is merely self defense!

Regards,

No review but the next book I will read is one about Roman Military. I have not found out the title yet but I am teaching a class next fall based on this book. I need to review the book to prepare lessons for the class.

No books yet but I have had many articles published that range from history, to travel, to current events. I would love to publish artcles about cooking- LOL
I am writing a fictional account about the fall of Constantinople 1453 and I hope to get it published.

Currently rewarding myself with my first reading of Ancient Iraq by Georges Roux (Third Edition).  Around 180 pages in, on the chapter of the Amorites.

An absolutely engrossing overview on the history of Mesopotamia, covering prehistory to the Sassanian periods of the 7th century CE. I just bought it at a local Borders liquidation sale for 2/3 it's retail price.

The place I would like to be right now is Boarder's in Ann Arbor Mich.  That's the orginal store.  It's 3 floors of "stuff" some of it's been out of print for years.

This is as tragic as "Leary's" closing.

Bit, by bit, and re-bits I am reading "History; Fiction or Science, Chronology IV."

It is hard to take except in small bites since it mostly concerns the problems with the history of Russia.
