I have a girl from Luxemburg amongst my students, and she brought a book in Ltzebuergesch into class.
I could read and understand most words, apart from the occasional French imported into the language.
Ltzebuergesch is a dialect of High-German, very similar to the ones spoken in the Mosel Area and the Saarland. It had, for historical reasons, an higher influx of French words than the other similar dialects, but is in grammar and vocabulary easily identified as a Germanic language.

Did a little test. I got most of it.
An ngem mchtech warme' Summerdaag
Font e' Knecht un der Arbecht kee' Geschmaach.
E' loigt sech en'r e' Baam, a' fng gleich oin ze ronken.
Noh vilem Siche' fent sei' Meeschter ehn do leien.
Kaum traut e' sengem A'n; en dnkt, dee' Kerl as dronken.
E' reselt ehn, a' st: Soll'ch mech elng geheien!
Du bas net werth, dat 't Sonn hir Strahlen
Ob dech liderlecht Vh lsst falen.
De' Knecht, nach halw am Schlof, sot: Respect fir d Red;
S hun ech och gedoicht: doirfir lei'n ech am Schid.
On a really hot summers day,
The farm labourer couldnt be bothered to work,
He lies down under a tree and immediately starts to snore(?)
After looking for him, long and hard, his master finds him lying there.
He cant believe his eyes and thinks, the guy is drunk
He shakes him and says
You are not worth it, that the sun lets fall
Her rays on your debauched
The labourer, still half asleep, says, respect for your speech
Thats what I thought, and thats why Im lying in the shade.

Do Germans also use female gender for the Sun or is this a particularity of Luxemburgian?
