The Sassanians divided Iran-Shahr into four regions: Khorvaran (meaning sunset, or west), Khorasan (meaning sunrise, or east), Bakhtaran (meaning north), and Nemroz (meaning south). We all know that Khorasan included Iranian Khorasan, along with Afghanista, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Does anyone of a map showing the Sassanian division of IranShahr? Or can anyone define what modern regions incompass Khorvaran, Bakhtaran and Nemroz?
