I have one form Uljanov: "Destroying the left-behind economy of the country-sides, hunger will objectively take us closer to our final goal, socialism, which is the next following step to capitalism." and following that: "Hunger will, in that manner, not only destroy the faith in the czar, but also into God."

Those kinda shows Lenins hunger policies ideology. I translated them from Estonian but i think they serve their purpose.

Yea, ca 4 million Ukrainians starved to death and it is thought that Stalin had a slight case of "Ukrainofobia." I have a letter from Sholohhov to Stalin and an answer from Stalin, if you want, i can translate it into English for you Tribunus militum, if you would like?

Stalin is a murderer that is correct. However one must know that the Communist system was NOT evil. It wasnt implemented the way it should have been...

That's very true.  The Soviet Union wasn't evil, Stalin was.

Soviet Union is evil. Look how they enslaved Eastern Europe under dictatorships, and this kind of thing continued on even decades Stalin died. In addition, they invaded Afghanistan in order to rainforce a government that peoples of the region detested. Note also that KGB still opperated right until the fall of Soviet Union.

And I can tell you that from a certain point of view people were far better off than they are today.

People in Bulgaria get paid on average $300 a month.  Could you live off that?  Pension is next to nothing, the highest amount is $100 a month.  A couple of months ago, they raised the pension by 5%, but they raised the price of electricity by 15%.  Crime is abundant, especially organized crime.  Sofia houses many casinos.  Fields in the countryside lie unsown, while the country has to import grain to feed its citizens.

Now tell me how capitalism is better for the common folk today.

Yea, many things were better then. I can still hear stuff like:" But in the Russian time there was this good and that good, but look at what is going on now..." by many people everywhere here in Estonia.

Yeah, I hear that too, except they say, "Back in the days of communism..."  For the first time a couple of months ago, I saw farmers riding in wagons in Bulgaria.  That's never happened until now.

The question is, if communism in the eastern countries hadn't been organized by a party with a concrete leader, would it have fallen apart faster or slower?  Would it have had the same benefits?

Not that you can feel a lot of the benefits now.  It's like everyone who has some power is thinking along the lines of, if it was used in the communist era, it is bad.  So they are remaking every policy, rebuilding Bulgaria they say.

And the privatization is horrible.  Instead of the privatization offices saying what the value of a government owned company is, you have the organized crime telling them what to value it at so they can buy it on the cheap.  And the organized crime includes many political figures.

The same thing is happening in Russia. There is no order, but only gangs of oligarchs, former Soviet officials and gangsters running around.

Notice how countries that were never ruled by commies to begin with are usually so much better off, western europe vs europe per se.  Nothing the state could create will ever top human ingenuity and individual achievement.

Hey Tribunus Militum,

I don't know if the semantics matter, but technically none of the leaders you spoke of are Communist.  (Surprise.)  In true Marxist terminology, they are Socialists.  According to Marx, in a Communist society there's no leader.

Peace,

Michael

Well... that is Socialist according to Marxist terminology. Real socialists do not follow idiots like Marx but the ideologies of Paris Commune (which was not dominated nor lead by Marx, but merely supported by him).

I think it is fair enough to call those people communists so that one can distinguish them from socialists. Otherwise it would be an insult to socialists who have nothing to do with them and their type of economic/political theorys. Plus, Communism should really be defined as a dicatorship with government imposing total/ almost complete controls on the economy, as almost all government who call themselves communists have this system.
