He was democratic, not a dictator.  I can see why you think that from seeing all the statues and pictures of him up everywhere you go.  Unlike most leaders he never ordered or even asked for these pictures or statues of him to be put up.  So where in Turkey have you gone?  What was your favorite place, food, activity, etc.?

IMO he was a dictator, though a benevolent one.

Yes in someway he sort of was, though not officialy.  When he said or ordered somethnig to be done, it was done with no questions asked.  Only dictators have that sort of power.  So you can call him a dictator if you wish, but officialy he was democratic.

The all orders of Ataturk must have been done;the order may have been killing of a group of people. However,he did everything for Turkey, and we are grateful to him.

Right....

I have seen many ridiculous repsonses in this thread so i would like to enlighten the non-Turks of this thread about Mister Ataturk.
Ataturk is the mastermind of the Armenian Genocide. He was part of the ultra-nationalistic party of the Turks called ,Young Turks.Later he assasinated them because he wanted to hold the power alone.Obviously he was a fascist and a dictator and a mass murderer. He funded many organisation to create the idea of Pan -Turkicm ,from which the Nazis later will inspire , Pan Aryanism.
In the begining, he claimed that he was a socialist (because he started a so called ''revolution'') , so he can have the favour of the Soviet Union. The Bolsheviks beleived to his blatant lies and gave him the guns which he used to massacre civilians. It is beleived that he made many ''democratic'' progressive reforms for Turkey and indeed he did create many Laws. But the point is the those Laws, were just the vitrine of the Turkish Republic, they were never implemented.
He is the reason why Turkey is untill today a fascist state. He is worshiped from the Turkish people as if he is a God.It is not coinsidence that Ataturk mean's ''Father of the Turks''.
In the WWII war the Turks were supplying the Germans guns ,amos hydrogen cyanide in form of Zyklon B, which was used in  Aushwitz. It is well known that Nazi Germany was the major key partner of the TurksOf course officialy they are supposed to be neutral. They declared that they were with side of the Allies exactly just one day before the fall of Berlin.
Imagine what would happen if the Nazis have won the war. There would be everywhere pictures of Hitler statues , laws protecting his ''honour''.Well that's the situation in Modern Turkay today.Ataturk won the war, massacred the all the ancient populations there, created an artifical history for them, changed the alphabet so they can be seen more civilized,
didnt allow the Muslims to take power in Turkey, because he would lose the power not that he cared much for the people. In the Turkish Constitution there is an article that you will be prosecuted or sent to prison if you ''insult Ataturk''.So anyone can imprison you , if they dont like your opinions towards Ataturk. The entire Turkish educational system is made up to beleive that Ataturk is their mighty saviour and a great hero and patriot. That is why the Turks defend him so hard. For example if i was in Turkey right now and say what i say , i don't know where i would end up tomorow moning
But oh well history is written by the victorious and that is the only reason he is being worshiped untill...now.

You can find many information about him all over the internet , just becarefull not to google any pro-Turkish site
THEY WILL NOT PASS

Of course you little Turks will consider him as a hero.He massacred all the bad guys ,saved Turkey, made Turkey ethnicaly pure by Christians state,, and like a true cowboy against the bad Native Americans, saved the day.

Everone can state his opinion in democratic countries. The question is : Do you have Democracy in your counry?Or do you want from me to post Turkish Journalists who were prosecuted or went to prison , because they ''Insulted  The Daddy of the Turks''
