Texas, and now Louisiana, has been hit by Hurricane Harvey. Houston has gotten 50 inches of rain. That would translate to 50 ft of snow.

The storm hit on Friday. Rescue efforts are still going on. Tens of thousands have been evacuated and shelters are overwhelmed.

Flooding is still going on, Beaumont and Port Arthur are being hit now and calls for boats and rescue workers are going out.

The storm is now moving east, toward New Orleans and Mississippi.

Best estimate is that it will take years for Houston to recover.

The scope and scale of this disaster can't be described, you have to see video reports to fully understand how extreme this is.

CNN is covering the storm, non stop. Med, no amount of prep. or for-thought could have forseen a mess as this.
25,000 National GD have been deployed, it's estimated to take as long as 2 months to restore power to all areas.
This is far worse than Katrina, and worse than Sandy.

Terrible. I hope the victims receive good help and that Houston and other places are spared another storm.

The rescue efforts are still ramping up. 1000 active duty Army, 2 Amphib attack ships loaded with helicopters and 800 Marines and it's just getting started in some areas.

East Texas got 25 inches of rain just last night.

2nd try, the first was knocked out by error message "security code did not match" What?

Estimates now put homeless at 100,000, with 40,000 homes damaged beyond use.

The death toll is at 40, but as the water recedes that's sure to go up.
