I am talking specifically about the native language of Britain, before the English. For some reason it simply disappeared when the Anglo-Saxons arrived on the coast of the North Sea in the 5th century AD. The Welsh and Scottish tongue survived, but the main of Britain has passed into history with not even a trace. What is the reason for this mysterious vanishing?

Briefly, people spoke a language related to Welsh & Cornish, and what had been Pictish. The Scottish tongue didn't survive it had a similar transition as the language did in what is now England. Basically, hierarchy won over the majority of the inhabitants. In Scotland, a hierarchy of Scots from Ireland through marriage took over and so did their language that is a distant relative to Welsh, Cornish, and Pictish. The majority of Scots are related to Picts. In England the majority of people are still related to those who were there prior to the Angles, the Saxons, and one or two others who settled. Again the hierarchy's language prevailed. One last point. In Scotland the languages are Scottish gaelic and Scots. Scottish gaelic is the language the Scots took over with them from Ireland. Scots the dialect spoken by most Scots isn't an English dialect. They both are rooted somewhere in a Germanic family or there abouts.
What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.

Decode the recently discovered Pictish glyph system of writing and you might be able to trace the language.
