Potop Redivivus (The Deluge) - old movie from 1974, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1975, but lost to "Amarcord".
Now after 40 years it was was shortened by almost 2 hour and digitally remastered. Avaible to watch on YOUTUBE, with english subs.
The action takes place in half of the 17th century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during so called DELUGE, the time when PLC had to fight against rebellions of cossacks, invasion of Russia and invasion of Swedes and Transilvanians. The movie is focused on Swedish invasion.
This was a terrific movie, but "Amorcord" was one of Fellini's best. This might surprise you, but both flicks played to good crowds here in the US. Subtitled of course.

Well, Amarcord is a masterpiece. The Deluge is just an adventure movie. Hard to compare those two movies. The only thing which both movie shared was a "foreign language movie" category.
"I am a pure-blooded Polish nobleman, without a single drop of bad blood, certainly not German blood" - Friedrich Nietzsche
You can't compare them. They were different, but equally good, Fellini had an edge in rep. and he was at his peak.
Movie industry politics probably swung that.

You would like both flicks. The humor gets a little raw in Amorcord, but then it wouldn't be a Fellini if it didn't.
BTW- I had to study film and media when in Uni. Film under Bill Goldman,
Media under Pete Boyle, the father of the late actor, Joe Boyle.
