Why did the Czechs go to conquer Milan in 12th century?

I have read that it is because of effort of czech nobility to get independence from the Holy Roman Empire.

It was before the Golden Bull of Sicily (1212) anyway.

It looks that schism of Christian Church was responsible for all movements those days.
