I opened this thread because the other one was closed!

So, I will just come right out and ask a very important question.

Just how does anyone know that Julius Caesar ever existed?

If you think you can prove he existed then just list your "proofs", here!

Looking forward to many responses.

Note hearsay, innuendo, "they say", "He said", "it is known by all", etc. does not count! Smile

Just where do you place the word "truth" or "fact" in your responses?

Can any one of you even prove that your sources ever lived? And, if indeed they lived just whom/who was the source of their proof(s)?

By the way, the above rules apply to your on "original" sources also! Laugh!

Please leave a list of your sources if you feel secure in your response!

Ron

Honestly, you are correct. It cannot be said whether or not Julius Caesar actually, existed. It is like 2000 years from now people wondering whether superman ever existed. However, it is not actually potent whether or not he existed, but whether or not his archetype did. I personally believe he existed, because he is the face of rome. But to be fair on both sides, if he did not exist, then he is the story of someone who did. He has to be. The world could not exist without people that are percieved like him, and their is no questioning that the Roman Republic turned into the Roman Empire drastically. Their are countless resources from different sources that define that fact. A general did cross the rubicon. Several political leaders were assassinated. And there are still in existence today ancient roman coins with a mans face on it with the inscription IVLIVS which means Julius.
