Military equipment 'may not return' Shocked

see this

Millions of pounds worth of resources are expected to be scrapped, sold or given away following the withdrawal of troops under proposals drawn up by the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The plans - which are still to be finalised - have raised fears high-tech material could end up in the hands of the Taliban.

Government estimates suggest about 11,000 containers worth of equipment are currently in theatre, including around 3,000 vehicles. Of these, military chiefs plan to bring back some 6,500 loads. It would leave around 4,500 containers (40.9% of kit) to be disposed of in Afghanistan, according to plans revealed to the Press Association under the Freedom of Information Act.

they are crazy they cant just give this Millions of pounds worth equipment for free ! they should sell them or be stored how do u feel if some one give u 2 millions ?? every one want money they cant give these for free it cant be !!! oh men why they are doing this ??  nothing is free in this damn world they cant do this !

It would probably cost more to ship the stuff back, than it's worth.  Even if they brought it all back, they would either have to store it, or sell it as military surplus at about 20 cents on the dollar.

Our government is run by fools. They spend billions on aid to the third world when unemployed families on our council estates can't afford food or heating. Worst of all, they've been arming the Islamist terrorists in Libya and Syria who will, within a decade or two, turn on us

This happens after every foreign war.  It isn't anything new, and it isn't confined to any one nation.

And yes, it is incredibly wasteful, but the military encourages it because they get to replace it all with brand new equipment instead of having to refurbish the old.
