Truth to some people is a recent edition, so they believe what has come to their mind recently. So yes what we might see as bad taste could totally bypass those who haven't seen, or do not want to see, those things which have happened in the past.

What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.

I remember my late father in law refused to buy a Japanese care. He served in WWII. Then of course in my lifetime, WWII is all videos and books, so I don't have the emotions about the time that he did. I've only Japanese cars. Marketing is a nice trick. Make something edgy, rebellious or in the face of the establishment, and people will flock to it. Hopefully pressure will be brought to bear that will cause merchandise to be pulled.

This is not a question of taste or no taste, of fashion or marketing - it's a question of symbols. Symbols stand for things, and works for them - like the cross for Christianity, etc. One sees a cross, one thinks Jesus, not Buddha or McDonalds; so playing with symbols have to be done with much caution, and not for the noise of it. Symbols are serious things, gun-serious, not toys to be played with, because they create interest, imagery, and affect many people's view on life and history as a record of realities. Certain things are not funny - and the deaths of millions of human beings caused by certain ideologies are not a joke, nor is the person who made this carnage possible through deliberate dehumanization of human beings. We in our post-modernistic orgyanism completely lost any idea for sacred and profane, right and wrong, we see only fun and money and edges - which is a puerile behavior and world-view. Everything we do matter, every symbol we use has it's own life, every word we say has weight and we are responsible for what we disseminate around - life is not a joke. But, that's enough jeremiah-ing for one evening - hopefully this disgrace would get out of fashion and be forgotten.

I wonder if they have the same attitude toward the "Rising Sun" flag.

Where I live, 1000km from the capital and in a smalltown that barely sees a tourist, they have this shop.
The two bored expats in these cases were the British and Israeli ambassadors.
But I agree it's harmless fun, the reason behind it is they have seen western movies and kind of regard the Nazis in the way westerners regard Darth Vader. I guess the solution would be to stop western countries making action movies about WWI that make the Nazi's look like cool pantomime villains. Just wait till Iron Sky comes out..... Kids around the world will have toy nazi spaceships as their prized possession.
If corperations turn the nazis into a cool profit making entertainment commodity, don't be surprised when people start seeing them as one.

It's not a taboo... it's exactly opposite... at least in Japan anyway. I hear the Koreans and Chinese burn them when they see one. Many of the Japanese locals I ran into see it as nostalgia mixed with the sins of their fathers. They should know how messy it got, especially in the Chinese mainland... Japanese public education doesn' help much when it comes with WWII atrocities.
Still, Hitler's goons did have good taste in fashion. Still not sure why they want Hitler's face on the shirt though... it's not like he's handsome or noble in any way Thais are weird.

In the west, young people have long had a fascination with Nazi insignia. In the 60s surfers and bikers wore the Iron Cross as they believed it brought them luck. There were also glam rock and heavy metal groups in the 70s and 80s who wore Nazi uniforms for their shock value

Lemmy collects Nazi memorabilia but he opposes fascism and racism. Many a hot rodder and biker paints iron crosses on their ride and some even wear German helmets

Come to think of it, TITAN, you seem to have similar tastes and interests to my old friend Thessalonian. I bet you two would get on like a house on fire. Your picture of Lemmy, and you meeting him, reminds me of Thessalonian's story of him meeting Paul Di'Anno of Iron Maiden fame.
