In your opinion what do you see as being the meaning of life?

What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.

Well, to tell you the truth I envy religious people that they can put meaning in what life is all about, and hence make something more out of it. In my view, there is no meaning - we get born because our parents had sex, we live, because there is nothing else to do when you are born, and we die like every living creature, and that's all. It would be nice to think that there is more to it, but I can't do so. So, life sucks and then we die - so we are doubly screwed. Hence, would be nice to get something out of life while we have it, since every sacrifice on behalf of others doesn't do anything for the person who sacrifices; but this would contradict the moral values we are imbued with, so...everyone tries to live as they can, as their circumstances allow them; and there is no recompense.

Well everything you've said here is life striving, we are born, that is life striving to live, we live as life strives to do so until it no longer can, and when it no longer can it no longer is the meaning of life. Then that comes into the realms of the meaning of death.

To seek some level of acceptable happiness in our lives and for our children's lives.

Perhaps then again perhaps that's a mere facade...as most of life might be qualified. Success, riches, fame, children, memories, accolades, acceptance, power, rejection, happiness, sadness, failure....perhaps all are a facade. Who can qualify it for another more so then for ones self. Whose answer is more probable and acceptable. Whose provides more comfort or ridicule. Whose should be more palatable and hence emulated. Whose should I bother to even review or be willing to contemplate. More likely I'll piss them out with the morning coffee. What then is the meaning...I already gave it to you above. Never ending conflict resolution till the worms come for you. Now get on with it...... because I can hear the worms crawling your way and mine.

Is all that we see or seem, but a dream within a dream- Edgar Allen Poe
As depressing of a view as it is I have to agree with Quixote's view on things. We only act the way we do because it seems the right way to act at the time. We manipulate people and situations as wwe see fit because we as humans are a self obsessed speies thats only goal is to raise ourselves to a point that we feel good about ourselve. In the process we often cause much pain and suffering to those who we love, but we don't care because we have accomplished whatever our goal was. The only reason that the world as we know it isn't completely trashed is because of that thing we refer to as our "damned conscience".
