Greetings to the AllEmpires Community, I was listening to Youtube medieval music the other day and i came across an old crusade song about the Chistian-Muslim wars in the Iberian peninsula.
Does anyone know the language used in this song?I don't speak Spanish but it doesn't sound like Spanish or Portugal to me.
Whilst I am no expert on languages, I would suspect that the song is sung in either Catalan and/or Occitan, etc., which were the languages of the minstrels, troubadors etc.?
Their songs, or poems were called Madrigals. Madrigals were first sung after the battle of Hastings in 1066, by the winners. The losers sat around singing, Shut up and deal.
