I heard 'riding' mooses has a whole different meaning in Canada.

Shouldn't ancient be more like from beginning of Rome to End of Rome, as it is dated normally?

Moose cav? I bet the swedes have no mooses, finns have more mooses anyway.

IMHO the best cavalry would be either Numidians(light cavalry) or Seleucid/Parthian cataphracts(heavy cavalry)

Sweden has much more mooses than Finland. We hunt them down, unlike Swedes who are afraid of dark and wet forests.

During the Swedish reign there was moose dragoons in Finland if I remember right.

Well, we still kill off a fourth of the moose population each year. Close to 110 000 animals yearly make much meat. They breed like rabbits though.

There were attempts to set up a moose cavalry regiment under Karl XI, but there was some problems with it even if they were very easy to domesticate - they couldn't be taught to get used to hearing guns firing (a quite big disadvantage...) Which was unfortunate, since the moose were way bigger than the horses of the time, up to 1,000 kg, and would've scared the Poles, Danes and Germans sh*tless (that was the whole point, me thinks). They were still used as couriers for some time.

edit: he, swearing filter working.
