What If....
1917,
Sensing trouble Czar Nicholas redeploys a regiment of Cossack Life guards from the front to the Summer Palace. The Cossacks will not only be fighting for the Czar, but for their own families whick live in the area. Chamberlain "Rightev Charismaticov" inspires and arms hundreds of palace servants. His "community outreach" efforts also bring armed right wing zealots to the palace.
The approaching Bolsevik militamen and civilian supporters are caught by surprise and totaly crushed by the Cossack Life Guards and czarist militiamen. The victorious czarists then go on a murderous rampage against real and imagined opponents.
What happens next....
-Do the reds simply retreat to Sin Petersburg, re group and come back better prepared. The palace complex is put under siege?
-Is the Czar still captured and executed?
-Even if he is not captured, do the Reds still win the war?
Or...
-Are the Whites strong enough in Saint Petersburg area to "nip the revolution in the bud"?
-With the Imperial family surviving, do the Whites win the civil war, even if they need to evacuate to Moscow?
