I dont think things would be too different, the US would probably soon get dominion status and develop much the same as it did before. Slavery would be ended earlier and th eUS would have been in WWI from the start, possibly ending it sooner with different results. Also due to the anglo-japanese alliance its likely there would have been less trans pacific tensions.

Heh, is there even a negative side?
Besides the World Wars ending earlier (perhaps not even starting), America would be a parliament so there would be no dividing of the country. Eastern relations would probably be better too, because Britain could have probably held onto and expanded its Asian dominions further.
