I must say I narrowly prefer the Taj Mahal. It is very close though - they are both beautiful. How much I would have loved it for the black marble Taj Mahal to have been built on the opposite side of the river. Where is the Shahzadeh, Cyrus?

Along with Tibriz and Isfahan? Or were they at different times? That last picture you added looks amazing. It's so ornate and intricate, yet with perfect masonry - no blotches or mistakes. Great stuff. Thanks.

Tabriz was the first and Isfahan was the last capital of Safavid empire.

And how stupid of me that since long I thought that Taj Mahal was belt by a Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife and and is the fines Mughal Architecture in the world (though it does has some elements of persian and Islamic architecture) Wink LOL

The language of the Mughal Empire was Persian, hence by standards prevalent here it would be considered as such.

Emperor Hadrian was so distraught after the death of his lover Antinous, that he build an entire city on the Nile for the strikingly handsome young man's memory. The place became an important economic and political centre in its own right, not to mention the place to be to worship the posthumously defied Bithynian consort. When rediscovered by French archaeologists in the 18th century, the place still had one and a half thousand statues intact after a millennia and a half. Now that's love and sincerity.
 
Sadly for us, an Egyptian concretor pillaged the site to make concrete. What a waste.

You'll actually find it was built by many architects with the head architect being Turkish, trained by the Ottoman master Sinan. Wink

Taj Mahal was built by many architects from various places. It does not matter where they come from, important thing is that it was a Mughal building, it was not Persian (at that time under Safavid dynasty). American hydrogen bomb was built by Edward Teller, a Hungarian. So was it a Hungarian bomb?

Mughal food, culture and language was not Persian either. Mughals were an original culture, which belongs more to India/Pakistan than anyone else.   

You'll actually find it was built by many architects with the head architect being Turkish, trained by the Ottoman master Sinan.


I don't know if he were the head architect (I doubt that), but one of the architests, Ismail Han Rumi was from Turkey. He built the dome of the building.

Shahzade Hossein , built in the Safavid period for one of the Imam Reza’s many brothers, and the design similar to the mausoleum in Mahan. The mirror ceiling inside the room containing the shrine is exquisite.
