The Xianbei and Wuhuan were living in Southwestern Manchuria.

Some say they were the Xianbei, others claim they were the Donghu, the enemy of Xiongnu. Lived further north than present Mongolia.

Southern Xian-bei and Wu-huan were mainly living in today's Juu uda(chi'feng) and Jurimu(tong'liao) League of Southeastern Inner Mongolia, Although today's Southwestern Manchuria was also under their control. and their eastern neighbors were Fu-yu and Go-ju-li, but not the Tungus tribes that were the northern neighbors of Fu-yu and Go-ju-li. Fu-yu, Go-ju-li, and their descendants Bo-hai were more related to today's Koreans but not Manchus or Tungus. I think those proto-koreans farmers in today's Southern Manchuria never really threaten their western neighbors Donghu, Xian-bei, and Khitan, untill their last Kingdom Bo-hai was destroyed by Khitans, and their people were replaced by their northern neighbors Jurchens(the ancestors of the Manchus, the descendants of Su-shen and Wu-ji), who and whose ancestors were ruled by those proto-korean nations for several centuries.

Xian-bei and Wu-huan(who was conquered by Xian-bei later) were descended from Dong-hu whose kingdom was destroyed by Mudun's Xiong-nu, Khitans and Kumosi(who was conquered by Khitans later) were directly from Yu-wen tribe, who was called Xiong-nu by Toba Xian-bei, but they were in fact  the descendants of both Xian-bei and Southern Xiong-nu, just like Toba Xian-bei themselves.

Northern Xian-bei, mixed with Northern Xiong-nu, were the ancestors of Toba Xian-bei and Ro-ran, and Ro-ran should be the most direct ancestors of Chinggis Khan's Mongols, of course, some sholars also urge that Chinggis Khan's Mongols were descended from Shi-wei(one of Xian-bei tribes leave in today's Hulun bair league of Inner Mongolia, Northern Xian-bei's original homeland) or Qi-yuan, one of 12 Gao-che(Tie-le) tribes.

I don't think "Chinggisid" Mongols descended from the Rouran, most of the Rouran were massacred by the Gk Trks.

The Mongols of Chinggis Khaan descended from the Shiwei.
